No Computer Screen

Step 1. Double check that your computer and monitor are plugged into a known good power outlet. Verify that all the cables are properly connected.

Step 2. If you have recently installed a new video card and your system worked fine before please remove it from the system and verify it is compatible with your computer. If you have an onboard video card remove the AGP or PCI card and try the on board video. If you have not installed a new video card recently proceed to step 4.

Step 2. If your systemposts just fine and then the video becomes distorted when windows boots up, try to boot into safe mode by pressing F8 and then select safe mode with networking and try to update the drivers.

Step 3. Read the installation instructions if this is a new video card. Sometimes the software needs to be installed first before the video card is installed in the system

Step 4. When your computer is turnedon are you getting any power. If not please view this article

Computer has no power

Step 5. Ensure that the proper voltage is set on the back of the computer. It should read 110. If not then flip it to 110. If no switch is present then by default your power supply should be set to 110 for the US.

 

Step 5. If your system turns on view the front of the case for a yellow or amber light. If you see this light then chances are your hard drive may not be fully seated and this cancause your system to show no video.

Step 6. Ensure your speakers are connected and turned on. Turn on your computer and try to listen to any beeps coming from your computer. If you here one short beep that means your system posted just fine and it is most likely a monitor issues. If you here other beep sequences then check out the manufacturers web site or give them a call to find out what that sequence means. Step 7. Try a known good monitor. If this does not work try a differ netvideo card.

Step 8. Remove all devices from the computer except what is need for the computer to post. Leave the hard drive, processor heat sinkand video. Disconnect all other devices such as Cd/DVD players, sound cards, modems. If you have an onboard video card remove the PCI or AGP card and use the integrated video port.

Step 9. Try a different processor and or hard drive.

Step 10. Try a different processor.

Step 11. Try a different motherboard.

Step 12. If this is a home built system please verify that all the hardware is compatible.

If you do not have any of these test parts try to find another known good computer and try your parts in there.
